Leaving Saudi for Qatar
Qataris like and appreciate America. Maybe by leaving Saudi the Royals will begin some reforms. Blogger Daniel Drezner has some interesting takes on US Forces gradually moving into Qatar and out of Saudi Arabia.
Getting U.S. forces out of the same country where the holy shrines of Mecca and Medina is an unambiguously good thing.
Reading the Times piece, what struck me was not just that this was smart foreign policy, but the wildly divergent attitudes of the Saudis and Qataris on hosting the U.S. military:
The Rest
Wait til I get in the Oval Office
Don't think for a moment she doesn't want to the Prez. She has already been defacto...now she wants you to vote her in. The book is out soon. With the advance she received I would hope she expounds about Hillary Care, Trading Cattle Futures, Interns, Impeachment and her penchant for not telling the truth. I wonder if she will move to another state and run for office if Rudy G. attempts a Senate bid for her seat.
Triple Digits at Twin Shields GC
Very frustrating but fun day in Dundalk, Maryland Sunday. Twin Shields played very tough. Very wet early, muddy, high rough and windy. All in my group played about 10 shots over normal handicap. I was the highest handicapper in my group and it showed. I actually shot par on the toughest hole yesterday, a 190 yard par 3 over a lake, see below. Golf is a brutal game. For the record, the score card read 100.
